Common Questions

Fence FAQ

What wood species do you recommend for fences?

Redwood and cedar are our top recommendations for the Bay Area. Both naturally resist rot and insects, weather beautifully, and last 20-30 years with minimal maintenance. We also offer pressure-treated options for budget-conscious projects.

How deep do you set fence posts?

We set posts a minimum of 24 inches deep in concrete footings. For taller fences or areas with wind exposure, we go deeper. Proper post depth is the most critical factor in fence longevity.

Do I need a permit for a new fence?

Most fence projects under 6 feet do not require permits in Silicon Valley, but regulations vary by city. Fences on property lines may have setback requirements. We verify local codes before starting any project.
